Losing Don Cornelius brings to mind his predecessor, Chicago's Big Bill Hill who aired on then channel 26. You had to bend, stretch and stand on your had with your TV antennae to get Big Bill's show to come in, but it featured black pre-teens dancing to R&B. And after every song, Bill said, "Eee-yeah"! But it was "US" on the air and it was cool. I was 8 or 9, I believe in 1967.
